Attributed to Alphonse Osbert this oil on board was most probably produced by him before 1880 during a spell studying in Spain and before him becoming central to the establishment of the Symbolism movement which influenced the remainder of his professional life.
A masterful piece of work in its own right before making such a huge creative change in his career.
