Glazed Ceramic & Fabric – Mid-Century Modern Table Lamp – Retro Geometric Drum Shade c.1962
This striking mid-century modern table lamp is a premier vintage design statement that beautifully captures the bold, warm aesthetic of the 1960s . The lamp features a sculptural, bulbous ceramic base finished in a rich, high-gloss deep chocolate brown glaze that catches the light elegantly. It is paired with an eye-catching drum shade adorned with a quintessential space age geometric pattern of concentric circles and stylized floral motifs in earthy cream and brown tones. This piece provides a fantastic combination of functional illumination and authentic retro character, making it a stellar addition to any mid-century modern interior layout.
Dimensions: 15 cm x 18 cm
The lamp was acquired from the personal effects of Kurt Heide who with his business partner Walter Collins , set up Oscar Woollens, the leading modern design studio in north London in the early sixties.
Both having trained as cabinet makers they established the business in Hampstead , persuading people to buy their well made furniture. Thus began over a decade of changing British post-war furniture fashion.
